corner view: flowers

We went to the park the other day and made some flower wreaths. I used to make lots of them when I was a little girl and it feels like it was yesterday that I was picking up flowers in the meadows; but now I see my daughter picking up daisies and dandelions, trying to tie them together in a wreath, and I can't stop thinking how quickly time flies...

Corner View: Spring

Oh, Spring, where are you...?

There was frost on the grass this morning and though the sun is shining now, it's only 3°C. Hats, scarves, gloves, winter boots... we can't say good-bye to them yet. But how I wish we could...

Oh, Spring, please, hurry up...

Corner View: Thankfulness.

~Thank you for all your lovely comments on my previous blog post!~

There are so many things that I am thankful for these days but most of all I'm thankful for my little family. I'm thankful that my children are healthy. I'm thankful for all the love that surrounds me.

Corner View: Artist.

G.'s drawing skills are getting better. Here are first portraits by her. First picture shows a smiling sun and her with me and C. The second one is full of happy faces. When I aked her who they were, she poited her little finger at each face, telling me names. Isn't she a sweetheart? To me, these are precious pieces of real art.

Corner View: Leaf.

We've been having the most gorgeous autumn weather for the past couple of days. Blue sky, golden sun, fresh crisp air and beautifully coloured leaves. October, I love you.

Corner View: Growing

When C. accidently broke the handle of my favorite Anthropologie mug I thought it would never be used again. But as you can see we found another purpose for it. We’re growing avocado tree in it. It all started some time ago: we wanted to show G. what can happen when you put an avocado seed in the water. For many weeks nothing happened. She would check every day for some signs of a plant springing but there was nothing there to get excited about. And then one day, when we all lost our hopes,  we noticed a tiny bud growing from the split seed. Since then, it’s been growing rapidly. Soon it will be time to transplant it into soil. I hope it will be successful.

Bonus photo: my bump is growing too. This is Baby F. at 31 weeks. Time is flying!

Corner View: Table

What is the best thing about any table? Food on it :-)
Yesterday we came back from Italy. We had absolutely fantastic time with family and friends. We also ate lots of great food, as you can see on these few images above. My pregnancy appetite is really huge, my bump has grown visibly in the past week or so. But... could you really say no to such delicious dishes...? I couldn't...

Corner View: Mineral.

Few years ago I made this aquamarine necklace for C. He wore it around his throat, believing it could help with his thyroid problems. I don't remember if he felt any different then. He definitely doesn't need it now, he had his thyroid removed few months ago.

Do you believe in healing prosperities of minerals?

Corner View: Vegetable.

I'm glad to say that fresh vegetables are my biggest craving these days. Not chocolate, not ice-cream but a stick of raw carrot or tomatoes sprinkled with olive oil make my mouth watering. Fresh veggies have always been one of the main ingredient of our daily diet and I feel really lucky that I don't have to struggle to make little G. eat her peas. She loves all vegetables, changing her preferences quite often (broccoli used to be her favourites for  months, now she loves carrots and sweetcorn the most). I love all vegetables but if I had to pick the ones that I can't imagine my life without, it definitely would be: asparagus, tomatoes (of any kind), artichokes and aubergines. Yum!

Do you have your favourite vegetable?

Corner View: Animal

When I was a child I was obsessed with horses. I collected everything on their subject: books, stickers, postcards, magazines etc. Every visit to the stables was an exciting event. And yet, I never rode a horse (and I don't think I ever will). I still think that they are one of the most beautiful animals though.

The first photo was taken in summer 2009, in the stables near my home town in Poland. The second image was taken in the stables in Wimbledon, London, in 2006.

Corner View: Imagine...

These days I spend lots of time imagining what it's going to be like when the new baby arrives. Sometimes it is so hard to imagine. When G. was born our life changed forever and since then she's been the centre of it. It still feels a bit unreal that there will be another person in our life to love .  My fast growing belly and first timid baby's movements make it more real every day though. I'm filled with joy but at the same time I have my worries. How to prepare G. for the new arrival? How to assure her that the love we feel for her won't be divided by two but it will multiple itself? Here's a question for you, Moms of two and more. I'd love to hear your stories.

Corner View: Fire.

From all the elements, fire is the one that I fear the most. I fear its power. It can so easily get out of our control and it is so difficult, sometimes impossible, to put it out. When I was a child, I witnessed a big fire in which our neighbour's house got completely destroyed. We stood in open windows of our apartment, terrified. I still remember the heat we felt on our faces.

Corner View: In the sky.

Flying a kite, high in the sky...

I took this photo two weeks ago, in Holyrood Park, one of my favourite places in Edinburgh. The wind wasn't very strong that day but it was enough to play with the kite.

I will be visiting your corners later in the evening- today we're having gorgeous weather and I swear it feels pretty warm so I'm rushing outside with little G. We'd better take advantage of this weather, it may be raining tomorrow, who knows. We're going to the beach to enjoy this sun :-)

Happy Wednesday!

Corner View: On the ground

On the ground, well- on the floor in this case, at my feet: we have a cottage house in the countryside, with huge garden where little G. is having tea with her friend. We have a dog and a sheep and a calf and even a baby lion and a giraffe. Isn't it great?

Corner View: Mother

I've been wanting to come back to Corner View for a long time now but never had enough time or energy to keep up with our weekly meetings. But the theme for this week seems like the best moment to get back on track with Corner View and, at the same time, to share some wonderful news with you.

I am a mommy to one happy girl and soon I will become a mommy to another little life.
This is why I had to survive three months on pasta with pesto diet (the only food that didn't make me nauseous) and this is why I've been feeling so tired lately. But I could not be any happier!

Happy Corner View!
