Corner View: Table

What is the best thing about any table? Food on it :-)
Yesterday we came back from Italy. We had absolutely fantastic time with family and friends. We also ate lots of great food, as you can see on these few images above. My pregnancy appetite is really huge, my bump has grown visibly in the past week or so. But... could you really say no to such delicious dishes...? I couldn't...

  2. Is that eggplant in the first photo? It looks delicious! Is that squid in the third and fourth photos? I have this aversion to squid---it's the stuff of horror movies. How in the world do you eat it--do you cut off those suction cups? Whoah! We Ohio country folks do hog roasts and chicken over long spits. We don't do squid. Wow! I'm impressed---a little grossed out, but still impressed!:>)

    1. Yes, it is eggplant (aubergine) and the dish is called melanzane alla parmigiana. I love eggplants and this recipe is one of my favorites. It's delicious!
In the third and fourth photo is an octopus. It might not look very tempting but I do love its tastes. This one is just boiled, we ate it with a bit o olive oil, lemon juice and salt- delicious!

  6. Do you get much fish in Edinburgh? I had a Scottish boyfriend once (from Edinburgh!) - no fish in his diet, only haggis :)

    1. We love fish so we have it quite often on our table (usually salmon,my favorite). Haggis are definitely not for me...

  7. The picture of the mussels is beautiful - just like a painting! When I was pregnant it was all flank steak, green peppers and chicken salad sandwiches. Not nearly as elegant as those crayfish!
