Corner View #8

This week subject is "The beach" (Thanks, Sophie).
To be honest, I am a "mountain girl" more than the sea person. I grew up in a montanious part of Poland and I never really thought that I would be living by the sea. But now when I am, I do like it. I guess it's because I don't really miss on anything here. On one side there is the sea and on the other we've got all those hills and mountains around. That's the beauty of the Ligurian coast, I think.

And the breeze that comes from the sea- so precious on a hot summer say.

Those two photos above were taken in November last year. I was seven months pregnant then and we had just moved to Italy. We went to the beach in Lavagna, a small town half an hour drive from Genoa. Although it was in autumn, there were people laying on the beach in their swimming costumes, enjoying the sun. I remember I felt pretty weird in my winter boots :)

The rest of the photos that I'm sharing in this week's Corner View were taken in Sardinia in May 2008. I love Sardinia and I will probably write a separate post about this beautiful island but for now please enjoy few images of Sardinian seaside.

  32. Never been to the ligurian coast, nor to Sardinia;for I too am a " old mountain girl", as I was born in the north of Argentina, near the Andes.
As for "my beach", well, you know how things goes in Italy: bad administrations allows some places like these, full of history and legend, to became a place with ugly houses on the beach, too crowded during the Summer to find it charming! Came over on Autumn!

  33. Oh! I love the first two photos of you on the beach! So beautiful! I love everything about Italy, but i don't normally think of beaches when I think about the country, so I clearly neeed to explore some more!

  39. Hi I just called in from Campbell soup Diary, your photos of the beach remind me of our holidays last november...yes we were in Liguria, staying in Colletta di Castelbianco..we went all along that coast line, even to Portifino and Santa Margherita Ligure and the other way to Monaco..

We had the most fantastic weather for November and we were there for 10 days it was brilliant!
