On Saturday we went for a stroll in the historic centre of Genoa. There was a fair trade market taking place in Porto Antico- we couldn't miss it. It was a bit disappointing because the variety of products wasn't as wide as we expected. We left with a bag full of organic teas and coffees and we also bought some cosmetics (we always go for the ones that are not tested on animals). I was very tempted to buy some of the pottery- some of it was really beautiful.

ReplyDeleteThis quote is chilling. We live in a small town and use to have an apple orchard. People would come from all over to pick apples. I loved that the orchard was so close to us. Until one day the man's young son decided he would have more money in his pocket if he sold the land off to a developer. Where once stood the beautiful apple trees now homes. It bothers me to think possibly some day kids will think apples come from the store instead of trees, but it is heartbreaking.

I often shop at the "altro mercato" mainly for food items, but also for children's books: they have some very interesting books on environmental issues.
