Corner View- Week 3

This week theme: modes of transport.

I had a nice post in my head about all means of transport in Genoa but couldn't find a quiet moment to sit down and write (my little girl has been not well since last Saturday and all my attention is focused on her at the moment). I really wanted to write about lifts in Genoa that can take you up and down in two minutes from one to another part of this tarraced city. I find them very useful and comfortable. Unfortunatelly, I don't have any picture of them and I could't get out to take some photos as the weather has been really horrible recently and with a baby not feeling fine it's not fun to go out anyway... But I will write about the litfs for sure and post some pictures once I have them.

So, for today, I'm sharing some pictures of another means of transport used by people around. Cars and motorbikes. Cars are everywhere and it's always so difficult to find parking space. It's also difficult to drive because the streets are so narrow, curved and there are always cars parked on both sides (but it's opinion of a woman who failed her driving exam six times and who would be scared to death to drive in Genoa =) )

I like this little old Fiat.

There are also lots of motorbikes, motorcycles and scooters everywhere and their owners are brave and crazy at the same time. They drive very fast and they can be dangerous while passing you on the wrong side (this happens very often).

Italian Vespa scooter.

  1. I like the Vespa scooter. I have this romantic idea, probably from the movies with the lady in the back in a dress and the wind just blows her hair ... anyway, you get the idea. :) I like your blog.

  4. I know what you mean about the weather, as it is the same here. I had hoped for a post on the APE....but with so much rain it has been impossible to venture on hikes to find one in the fields. Francesca has it covered though.
We are seriously considering a vespa -- but haven't decided on a color or model. We already have 2 scooters, a big one and a small one, and have decided to downsize to one medium-sized one. Can't wait!

  5. I'm sorry about your little girl, hope she's better soon and you can go out to enjoy the sun:)! PLEASE, SUN!!! My experiences with parking in Genoa are just nightmarish, mind you, in the last few years my trips to Genoa have been to Gaslini which was nightmarish per se ...

  9. Nice. I enjoyed just hearing about the lifts, even without the photos. Sparks my imagination, to picture the terraced city from your description.
Hope your little one is feeling better.

  11. i love vespas and i love your photos of the vespa. i'm sorry to hear about your daughter. it's so frustrating when little ones don't feel well. you just wish you could take the pain and discomfort away. or at least somehow make them understand that it will go away. but the only thing you can do is to comfort and be there. well wishes from here.

  13. I understand the fear of driving here, but it gets better. . .easy, in fact once you understand the unwritten rules of the road.

I really just want to reach into my screen for the blood orange. My oh my!
